What is The Australian Apprenticeships Access Program
The Australian Apprenticeships Access Programme is a Government funded program. The Access program aims to provide you with pre vocational training support to obtain and retain an Apprenticeship / Traineeship.
AAAP assists job seekers to obtain and retain an Australian Apprenticeship. Youth Projects Inc runs these programmes in collaboration with businesses, ? and ? within different industries, from Retail, Hospitality to Business administration and transport and Logistics.
We offer pre vocational training, support and ongoing assistance to obtain and maintain an Australian Apprenticeship. The training provided through the Access Programme is nationally recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework and is based on local current labour market needs. The programme also offers post placement support and mentoring for the first 13 weeks of employment.

This course is an introduction into the Hospitality industry, and is open to any eligible participant with a passion for food, cooking and or customer service. (please see attached promo material and eligibility for commencement and referral)
Our facilities at Youth Projects offer a state of the art, purpose built industrial kitchen. The accredited training includes Certificate II Hospitality and Level II First Aid
- 1 Certificate II Hospitality
- 2 Level II First Aid
- 3 Guest speakers and motivational sessions
- 4 A dedicated Access Program marketer will be working closely with each participant to design and update an employment pathway plan and market participants directly into employment
- 5 13 weeks of flexible support to maintain an Apprenticeship/Traineeship
- 6 Referral to Fitted For Work – FFW offers free business clothing, presentation and interview skills as well as building self confidence and assisting women on their path to self sufficiency
The I ♥ Hospitality course at Youth Projects offers participants a guided and mentored taste of the hospitality industry, enhancing employment opportunities and more importantly exposing industry expectations.

Australian Apprenticeships Access Program (AAAP) Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for assistance under the Access Program, participants must be of working age (15*-64 years) and meet at least one criterion from each of the following three categories: (Download the Eligibility Form)
Category 1 – Residency
A participant must be:
- an Australian citizen;
- the holder of a permanent Australian visa; or
- the holder of a New Zealand passport who has been resident in Australia for at least six months prior to commencing the pre-vocational training course [see Note 1].
Evidence of residency/citizenship status is required, for example, a passport, naturalisation certificate, or appropriate visa.
*Subject to the National Youth Participation Requirement which makes participation in education, training or employment compulsory for all young people until they turn 17 years of age, which includes:
- a mandatory requirement for all young people to participate in schooling (meaning in school or an approved equivalent) until they complete Year 10; and
- a mandatory requirement for young people who have completed Year 10 to participate full-time in education, training or employment, or a combination of these activities, until age 17.
Category 2 - Registration
A participant must be one of the following:
- a registered job seeker;
- referred by a Youth Connections provider [see Note 3], a Disability Employment Network provider or a Community Development Employment Project (CDEP) officer;
- eligible for Youth Allowance.
Category 3 - Personal Circumstances
A participant must be at least one of the following:
- a person who left school prior to the completion of Year 12; [see Note 2]
- a person who is referred by a Youth Connections provider; [see Note 3]
- an ‘at risk’ Year 12 school leaver; [see Note 4]
- an Indigenous Australian;
- an Australian born descendent of a South Sea Islander; [see Note 5]
- a person who has been registered with Centrelink or Job Services Australia as unemployed for three months or more at the commencement of the pre-vocational training course;
- a self-disclosed ex-offender; [see Exclusions and Clarifications]
- a homeless person;
- a person with disability; [see Note 6]
- a sole parent or sole guardian receiving a Parenting Payment (Single);
- a person aged 45 to 64 years at the commencement of the pre-vocational training course;
- a person who has been referred during or after undertaking the DEEWR-funded Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program;
- a person aged 25 to 64 years at the commencement of the pre-vocational training course who has been made redundant (and identified as such by Centrelink or Job Services Australia) since 1 January 2009; (this category applies for the 2009-10 financial year only)
- a person who was has worked for at least six (6) weeks as an employee of a business entity while it is/was registered as an Insulation Installer under the Home Insulation Program (irrespective of whether in receipt of income support).
